Dave has called the San Francisco Bay home for over three decades, and has played with Mark Levine, John Wiitala, Bruce Foreman, Vince Lataeno, and Brazilian players like Carlinhos Oliveira and Claudio Bebbiano. Dave studied at the Berkeley Jazzschool (now California Jazz Conservatory) with Marcos Silva.
Today Dave leads Saravá, a band he formed around the idea of blending his love of Brazilian music with an American jazz concept to combine a Brazilian sensibility with American improvisation.
Before the Bay Area, Dave was a founding member of Big Dave and the Ultrasonics, a six-piece Jump Blues band out of Ann Arbor, MI, making appearances at the Detroit Blues Festival and several open-air Ann Arbor festivals.
Dave has also made appearances with Art Farmer, (Young) Bill Evans, Jim McNeely and Snooky Young. He recently appeared with the Bay Area funk band The Grease Traps at Stern Grove, opening for the Commodores.
Dave Salvator
Richard Lindsey (bass) began his musical journey in Southern California studying guitar with David Amaro (Airto, Flora Purim) and classical guitar with Seiko Sesoko, then fell in love with bass guitar at the age of 16.
After a stint in Seattle, where he played with jazz guitarist Michael Powers, Richard moved to New York, where he studied with jazz bassist Ron McClure and performed and recorded with a wide range of local ensembles, including the world beat group Bangaroo, jazz drummer Art Lillard’s Heavenly Band, the Celtic roots- rock-R&B group Kips Bay, and Croatian-American singer-songwriter Nenad Bach.
Richard played on a number of film and television projects and was featured on the films The Fort Fisher Hermit and A Touch Of Fate. After moving to the Bay Area, he applied his eclectic musical education and love of improvisation to an intensive study of Brazilian music, and he has played not only with Saravá but also with Catia Machado and Brazil/East Bay Ensemble (BEBE), Marcos Silva, Kiyoe Wakabayashi, and The Brazilian Project.
Richard Lindsey
Jazz guitarist Tony Corman is a Boston-born Berklee College of Music grad, a reformed sax player with recording credits including the Full Faith and Credit Big Band, the Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, and multiple projects of his own. When not playing with Saravá, he leads and is the Lone Arranger for the Morchestra big band and co-leads FivePlay jazz quintet (four CDs of original music on Auraline Records). He's a proponent of M3 guitar (7-string guitar tuned symmetrically), the author of The Real Intros and Endings book, available from Sher Music.
Tony Corman
Kelly Fasman is a drummer, instructor, and clinician. She has performed with Andrea Bocelli with the San Francisco Symphony, Peter Cetera, the Moody Blues and Kenny Loggins, Joan Baez and more.
She was the house drummer with American Musical Theater of San Jose and the Moscow Circus in Japan. Kelly has taught privately for over 35 years and has been a clinician in every jazz band in the Tri-Valley, as well as the Graded School Jazz Festival in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
